The Mobile arm of electronics giant Sony, on Wednesday, introduced the newest member of the Xperia family – Xperia Z1 in New Delhi. The smartphone has been floated with a Rs.44,990 price tag. It was first introduced on September 4 at the IFA Consumer Electronics Trade Show held in Berlin. Earlier shots of the smartphone were leaked all over the cyber space especially on social networking websites twitter and facebook. Even Sony teased with some leaks generating excitement and fueling speculations.


The new Xperia device is driven by a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor along with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage to offer which is expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card. It runs on Android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS.

The Z1 holds a 5-inch TRILUMINOUS full HD display. The Star, however, is the Exmor RS 20.7-megapixel camera with G-Lens and BIONZ image processor and a 2.2-Megapixel camera on the front. One of the premium features of the camera is its ability to click bursts of as many as 61 images in 2 seconds. The Z1 could also be mated with Sony’s Cyber Shot QX10 and QX100 to be launched soon informed the company. Just like any other Xperia device this one also resists dust and water. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, NFC, GPS among others.


Along with the Xperia Z1 was launched the Sony Smart Watch 2 priced Rs.14,990. The watch is compatible with Z1 and runs on Android v4.0. Just yesterday Samsung launched Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear Watch.
