Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and a Mumbai based electronics goods manufacturer WishTel announced the launch of their Android tablet IRA ICON on October 1st, 2012. Running on Android 4.0 Ice-cream sandwich operating system, the tablet derives its power from a 1.2 GHz processor having 1GB RAM.
The tablet features a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch screen with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, 0.3MP front camera, 2MP rear camera, 4GB internal storage and microSD card slot that supports storage up to 32GB. IRA ICON also comes with a brawny 4000 mAh battery, which promises browsing time of about 4-5 hours. The device incorporates built-in stereo speakers plus a microphone as well. For connectivity, the company renders 2G voice calls (SIM slot), Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), 3G, GPS, WI-Fi, Bluetooth, mini HDMI, 3.5mm jack and USB. The tablet comes with several preloaded applications like Wish Learning, Wish Studio, Wish TV, Wish News, Wish video calling, Skype, Photo Viewer, Games , Gtalk, and Google play. The price tag on IRA Icon reads INR 10, 500.
