World Diabetes Day : Two-Thirds Of Indian Children Have Abnormal Sugar Levels

Leena Chatterjee, Director,Fortis SRL labs and SRL strategic survey conducted a national level study and reported that 66.11% of children have abnormal sugar levels. This situation is highest in the Western zone and lowest in the southern zone as on World Diabetes day, today as per the findings of HBALC (indicator of diabetic control levels).

Sedentary lifestyle amongst children, wrong eating habits and lack of outdoor activities along with hereditary factors leads to diabetic or pre- diabetic conditions . This condition should be properly taken care of so that they do not suffer from any kidney related problem or strokes in future.

So it is imperative for children who are overweight and where diabetes is prevalent in the family , to regularly get themselves checked their sugar levels and make necessary changes in lifestyle to prevent diabetes.
