1928 – India’s first Braille editor Thakur Vishwa Narain Singh was born. He was the force behind getting Hindu religious scriptures translated into Braille. He was awarded the Soviet Land Nehru Award in 1977 in recognition of his contribution to Braille literature.
Singer Sonu Niigaam
1973 – One of the finest artists in Indian film Industry, Sonu Nigam was born. Nigam as regarded as one of the best playback singers in the industry. He won the National Film Award in 2004 as the Best Playback Singer for the song ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ from the feature film of the same name.
2004 – Lawyer, Educator, Politician and regarded as one of India’s greatest parliamentarians of India Prof. Hirendranath Mukherjee passed away. The Padma Shri was bestowed on him in 1990 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1991 by the President of India.
2012 – Northern Power Grid fails, affecting lives in as many as 22 states and essential services as airports, railways, Delhi metro etc.
