1930 – Popular Indian lyricist and poet Late.Anand Bakshi was born.

1934 – Former India Cricketer Chandrakant ‘Chandu’ Borde was born.Borde also served as the Chairman of National selection committee,twice. He has been conferred upon with the Arjuna Award (1966), the Padma Shri(1969) and Padma Bhushan(2002).

1947 – The first ever postage stamp of independent India was released. It was meant for foreign correspondence.

2001 – Regarded as the ‘Marlon Brando’ of Indian Cinema, versatile actor Sivaji Ganesan passed away.
