The Film Federation of India (FFI) recently announced that the Anurag Basu directed ‘Barfi!’, a Bollywood love story starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz in the lead, has been chosen to represent India in the 85th Academy Awards under the best foreign film category. The movie, which tasted sweet with very welcoming reviews, was selected out of the five shortlisted films from a pool of twenty films that were in the race for this coveted nomination. It remains to be seen whether this Indian film will make it’s mark, as the earlier films selected never won a Best Foreign Language film Oscar, though ‘Lagaan’, ‘Salaam Bombay’, and ‘Mother India’ made it to the shortlist.
