Award-Winning Tollywood Actor Srihari Dies At 49

Noted Telugu actor Raghumudri Sri Hari (better known as Srihari) passed away at the Leelavathi hospital in Mumbai Wednesday evening. The award-winning actor was reportedly ailing from liver related problems. For the past few days, he had been undergoing treatment for cancer at the hospital, where he breathed his last this afternoon. He was 49. He is survived by his actress wife Disco Shanthi and son.

Srihari dies at 49

The actor started his acting career as an antagonist in Telugu cinema. He went on to do some notable lead roles and became one of most well-known actors and highest paid character artist in the Telugu film industry. He was introduced by well-known director of Telugu cinema Dasari Narayana Rao. Srihari’s first movie as a hero was Police. His movie was the best opening ever for small budget films in the 1990s. He has two sons and one daughter. But he lost his daughter, Akshara, at the age of four months.

In the remembrance of his daughter, he started the Akshara Foundation. He also adopted four villages in Medchal. He died with the liver related problem on October 9th 2013. His sudden demise has shocked many in Tollywood. Telugu heart-throb Siddharth tweeted “Shocked to hear that Srihari garu has passed away. One of the kindest, most generous people in the Telugu film industry. Terrible loss.”

The last film where Srihari was seen is Thoofan (the Telugu version of Ram Charan’s Zanjeer), and was shooting for Shahid Kapoor-Prabhudeva’s upcoming R…Rajkumar.
