ASUS FonePad Sets Date With India: To Be Unveiled On April 24!

Taiwanese electronics giant ASUS will introduce its 7-inch tablet with phone functions, ‘FonePad’, on April 24 in India. ASUS had unveiled ‘FonePad’, an Android tablet at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona (Spain) in the month of February this year but it wasn’t clear then as to when it would be made available to its admirers in India. However, the wait is now over as ASUS seems all set to unveil ‘FonePad’ at an event in New Delhi.

FonePad is ASUS’s first Android tablet that is empowered by an Intel processor that is the 1.2 GHz  ‘Atom Z2420’ with 1GB RAM unlike ASUS’s NEXUS 7 that is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra Quad-Core at 1.2 GHz. This Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet has variants that offer 8 GB and 16 GB of internal storage both of which can be expanded up to 32 GB courtesy a Micro SD card.

The tablet is fueled by a 16Wh Li-polymer battery that can last up to 9 hours depending upon its usage. The FonePad has a 7-inch LED multi-touch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It has two cameras- 1.2MP camera on the front end and a 3MP camera on the rear end (available on select models only).  This 340gm tablet comes equipped with GPS & Glonass, G-Sensor, E-compass, Proximity and Ambient Light Sensors.

FonePad also has 3G connectivity to offer along with other connectivity options that include Micro USB port, Bluetooth (v3.0) and Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n). It will be made available in two colours viz. champagne gold and titanium gray and is expected to be priced around Rs.16,000/-

    I am not a big ASUS fan personally. But I kind of like this Fonepad’s texture, atleast from the review videos that I saw.
