The international trailer of John Woo’s latest, the Chinese epic drama The Crossing has finally been revealed and can be viewed below. The film stars Zhang Ziyi, Huang Xiamoing, Song Hye-kyo, Bowie Lam, Tong Dawei and Masami Nagasawa in the lead, and is slated for a December 2014 release in China. The film will be presented in two parts – part I releasing late this year and part II releasing in May 2015.
Written by Hui-Ling Wang, The Crossing is a true story based during the Chinese Revolution, and concerns the steamer ship Taiping which met its brutal fate in 1949 and sunk, resulting in the deaths of more than 1500 passengers and crew members. From the looks of it, the film shows tremendous scope and could very well be the most ambitious Chinese venture yet. John Woo, who dons the directorial hat for the first time since Red Cliff II (2009) has got a potential winner.
