Xiaomi Redmi 1S Launched In India For Rs 5,999 As Flipkart Exclusive – Low On Price, High On Features!

Xiaomi Mi 3 had a dream run, and in the company spokesperson’s own words, they had ‘greatly underestimated the demands’. The company has had a dream run with the phone, with over a lakh units sold in a matter of minutes. Continuing the run, Xiaomi on Tuesday announced their second offering for India – the entrey-level Xiaomi  Redmi 1S. Where the Redmi S is listed at Rs 6999/- on the company’s official website, they’ve further slashed down the price to Rs 5999/- on Flipkart. This is not an introductory offer or a discounted price, but the final price of the product in India. The smartphone could be availed through its first flash sale scheduled for September 2, and customers can register for the same Tuesday 6pm (IST) onward.

Now coming over to the Xiaomi Redmi 1S features and specifications – The smartphone supports dual-SIM (microSIM) with dual snadby. It has a 4.7 inch IPS-LCD Multi-touch capacitive screen with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and 312ppi pixel density, all protected under Corning Gorilla Glass 2. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with MIUI v5 skinned over. The company has assured a Android 4.4 KitKat + MIUI v6 update by end-2014. The phone derives power off a 1.6 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM, and houses 8GB inbuilt storage which could be expanded up to 32GB via microSD. The photographic needs in Redmi 1S are satisfied by a 8 megapixel rear autofocus camera with flash, while a 1.6megapixel front-facing camera sufficed for video calling. The phone offers several connectivity options in 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi with Direct and hotspot functionality, MicroUSB, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, GPS and USB OTG.

For connectivity Redmi 1S comes with 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Direct and hotspot functionality, Micro-USB, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB: OTG. Equipped within is a 2000 mAh changeable Li-ion battery, that weighs 158 grams and has dimensions of 137x69x9.9mm.
