13 Most Awaited Bollywood Movies of 2014

2013 was the year of change where Bollywood attempted to move away from the stereotyped money crunching flicks by churning out movies which were sensible and intellectually stimulating .Some of them were  brilliantly made masterpieces and others were decent attempts .Though none of them were big money spinners it still doesn’t demoralize me as  a viewer because the winds of change have blown and there has been a shift in the kind the movies that audience wants to consume and that’s refreshing.We have something of a wave forming up in the movies industry and a lot of new talented directors  are riding on top of it .To capitalize the changing momentum all the big producers as well as the independent ones have geared up to produce movies for the changed audience. Our sensibilities have changed in terms of movies and 2014 is going to offer new cuisine for our newly developed taste buds. Detective Byomkesh Bakshi  is based on the  famous detective Byomkesh Bakshi created by writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. It features Sushant Singh Rajput in lead role of Byomkesh Bakshi and Swastika Mukherjee. The film is co-produced by Yash Raj Films and Dibakar Banerjee Productions.

Bombay Velvet

Bombay Velvet is an upcoming 2014 Hindi neo noir drama film directed and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap. It is based on historian Gyan Prakash’s book Mumbai Fables, a story of how the city of Mumbai became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music. Bombay Velvet is the story of one ordinary man who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a ‘Big Shot’. Haider (Hamlet) is the third instalment of Vishal Bhardwaj’s Shakespearean trilogy after Macbeth (Maqbool) and Othello (Omkara).Vishal has created brilliant masterpieces with the previous two adaptations and has promised to up the game to a different level this time. Shahid Kapoor after listening to the script was so impressed that he decided to produce the film in partnership with VB.

UGLY

Ugly is a psychological thriller and an emotional drama film written and directed by the great Mr Kashyap .It will be his first movie as a director after the critically acclaimed G.O.W .It was slated to release in 2013 but was postponed for unknown reasons. It bears the signature stamp of Anurag Kashyap and we all know how stern Mr Kashyap can be with thrillers.

City Lights

City Lights is an official remake of British film Metro Manila (2013). The film stars Rajkumar Rao, who starred in his previous film, Shahid. The story of the film is about a poor farmer coming to Mumbai in search of livelihood. After the wide critical acclaim of Shahid, expectations have doubled from Hansal Mehta.

Jagga Jasoos

It makes a big difference to work with such a filmmaker. Television actor Karan Wahi will be making his silver-screen debut with this film.Anupam Kher has been said to also star in the film.

A remake of a Telegu movie of the same name Kick boasts of having Salman Khan in the lead role.It will have lots of jumping jack actions scenes in signature Sallu Bhai style, enough to pull is hoards of people to the theatres ,right?B.t.w Chetan Bhagat was roped in on this project to tweak the screenplay a bit interesting, huh?
