India’s telecom giant Bharti Airtel has collaborated with UAE’s Etisalat to develop a multi-service regional network infrastructure node in the region. The deal includes Airtel’s MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) services supported by its global network that shall let Airtel offer advance data and wholesale services to its customers in Africa and the Middle East. Also, it shall offer Etisalat a platform to extend to important global business hubs like India and Africa.
Ali Amiri, Executive Vice President (Carrier & Wholesale) Etisalat, stated his happiness over this tie-up, and was proud that Bharti Airtel chose their SmartHub facility, that shall provide Airtel with an array of regional connectivity options both in and out of a region. He even added that this collaboration shall enable direct routing of traffic between the Middle East and Africa, Asia and Europe.
Etisalat’s Smarthub is the largest capacity, content, internet and data hub in the Middle East, which offers regional access for global service providers and global access to the region. Ajay Chitkara, CEO (Global Business), Bharti Airtel, stated that the investments made in developing a globe spanning network infrastructure have been substantial, and the collaboration with Etisalat shall aid them in catering to the constantly growing bandwidth demands of the enterprise and carrier customers in the region. Focus largely lies on the emerging markets, and in delivering best-in-class services to their customers, he added.
