Chinese smartphone giant Gionee has released the CTRL V5 for market in India. The phone has been tagged with a label that reads Rs.12999. It’s on the company’s India website, in stock and available in black only. The smartphone succeeds CTRL V4 that was launched in India in November last year.
Gionee’s mid-segment offering to India is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582V Quad-Core processor along with Mali 400 GPU. It packs 1GB of RAM. There’s 8GB of internal storage space to offer which can be stretched up to 32GB using a microSD card. It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. Connectivity options include the regulars- 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and GPS/AGPS.
The Gionee device sports a 4.7-inch IPS qHD display. It holds a primary camera with a resolution of 8MP fitted on the rear side. This snapper is also assisted by LED flash. The secondary camera fixed on the front is a 2MP shooter that clicks selfies and facilitates video calling. CTRL V5 derives its juice from an 1800mAh battery that can stand 10 hours of talk time on 3G and offers 324 hours of standby time.
CTRL V4 launched last year is driven by a 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor coupled with 512MB RAM. Also based on Android 4.2 OS, this CTRL device can accommodate 4GB of data onboard as memory can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. The screen it holds is a 4.5-inch FWVGA display.
