ASUS today unveiled their new Android-powered PadFone 2, which includes a quad-core smartphone and also a tablet. The 4.7″ PadFone 2 docks with the PadFone 2 Station, thus transforming into a 10.1″ tablet. Together weighing 649g, PadFone 2 and the PadFone 2 Station combo is quite modest as compared to the weights of other tablets.

The PadFone 2 Station, at 514 grams, stands strong with a 5000mAh battery powering 36 hours of 3G talk-time. Claims suggest that the Padfone 2 Station’s battery can totally recharge the phone when docked, thrice! The 10.1″ screen features an IPS display of 1,280 x 800.
The PadFone 2 marks its launch at Milan today, and by the end of December it will be launched in countries across Europe (Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Romania, Portugal) and Asia (India, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, UAE). The availability of this device in other countries shall be revealed in the coming days.
