The network provider claims to have slashed the local calling rates in New Delhi by 90 percent, and offers two new plans which promise full value to the invested money. The scheme basically targets the student community. This move has simply intensified the ongoing dispute among telecom operators, and others need to develop better or similar schemes to maintain their position in the race.
Aircel’s press release announced a significant 90% reduction in local calling rates in the capital, and users may make use of this via two rate-cutters:
1) First rate-cutter costs Rs 27/- and offers local calls at 10p/min for the first 100 minutes, after which the rates shall quadruple to 40p/min. Plan shall stay valid for 21 days.
2) Second rate cutter costs Rs 11/- and offers all local Aircel to Aircel calls at 10p/min. Plan shall stay valid for 15 days.
The plan is only applicable in New Delhi, but we expect that the company shall soon roll out the very same scheme in other Indian territories as well.
