The 2014 Toyota Corolla will be showcased at Delhi Auto Expo to be held next year according to automotive news website Indian autos blog. The 11th generation of Toyota’s celebrated sedan will be exhibited in the month of February in Noida. The production at company’s Bidadi plant for Asian markets, however, will start much later.
This next generation Corolla could be availed in two versions- American and European. It’s the European edition of the car that will kiss the grey asphalt in India. There’ll be a 1.4-litre engine that generates 88.4PS power and peak torque of 205Nm and a 1.8-litre dual VVT-i engine mated to 6-speed transmission either manual or automatic that produces 140PS power and maximum torque of 173Nm. Fuel efficiency is the point of focus for the auto giant. The CVTi-S automatic transmission has undergone upgradation to better the existing fuel-efficiency.
The 2014 Toyota Corolla shall feature LED headlamps flaunting more style than many existing cars in the market. The car also enjoys a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels with twin-spoke design. In India, the car shall feature 15-inched alloy wheels that have been substantially toned down as far as style is concerned, but this car still manages to look far modern compared to the existing Corolla Altis.
Toyota Corolla’s testing has already commenced at the Bidadi plant, where the existing model is manufactured from CKD kits brought from Thailand. Nothing is known about the source from where the kits for the new Corolla are being acquired from, but it’s known that the model is being made in Turkey. The price bracket the company plans on 2014 Corolla could range from 10 to 15 lakhs.
