Sweden-based Volvo Auto India Pvt Ltd has announced that its small C-segment hatchback ‘V40’ shall be launched in June 2013. Managing Director, Tomas Ernberg, stated that the company traded 820 cars in 2012 and anticipated the number to grow to 1,100 this year. Nothing has been revealed about the small car’s price as of yet.
The Swedish company houses two manufacturing plants in Sweden and Belgium, and a new plant in China shall start production this year. Presently there are no plans to start a manufacturing unit in India, Tomas said. He even added that the car market is expecting a market increase from 28,000 to 31,000 units per annum. Volvo plans to open dealership in Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Surat, Rajkot in coming months. Total it has 12 dealerships in India.
