1887 – The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, earlier known as Victoria Terminus, was declared open for public. Located in Bori Bandar area of Mumbai, it is the busiest railway station in India.

1939 – Former Indian Cricketer, Late. Ramakant ‘Tiny’ Desai was born. He represented India in 28 Test matches as a fast bowler and served as the chairman of selectors from 1996/97.
1952 – Poet and Novelist, ‘Padma Shri’ Vikram Seth was born.
1985 – America’s highest civilian honour,’The Medal Of Freedom,’ was awarded to Mother Teresa by the then President Of USA Ronald Reagan.
