1856 – Social thinker and Educationist,Gopal Ganesh Agarkar was born. He was the first editor of marathi daily ‘Kesari’ founded in 1881 by Lokmanya Tilak. Agarkar founded Pune’s famous Fergusson College in 1885.

1963 – Swami Sivananda Saraswati, who founded the Divine Life Society and the Yoga-Vedanta Forest Academy, passed away.
1975 – Legendary music composer Madan Mohan passed away. His music was last used in Yash Chopra’s ‘Veer-Zaara’ released in 2004.
