Indian mobile phone maker Micromax is all set to roll out its first 3D smartphone — Canvas 3D A115 — in the coming few days, which shall run Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). Leaving 3D, the other hardware specifications of this phone are inferior when compared to Canvas HD. Sources reveal that the phone enjoys a 5″ display with 800x480p resolution, 1GHz dual-core CPU and 1GB RAM. The rear camera shoots in 8MP with LED flash, while the front camera shoots in 2MP. Internal storage is 4GB, expendable with microSD. The pricing of this smartphone is anticipated around Rs. 15,000/-.
Speculations brim that though the phone shall have a 3D interface, it shall not have 3D playback capabilities. As of now, LG Optimus 3D is the only smartphone in the Indain market to play 3D. HTC Eco 3D and Spice View D have been discontinued following their lukewarm response. Micromax, however, is quite positive of its offering. This is one of the thirty new phones that CEO Deepak Malhotra announced launching this year. Prime announcements regarding the phone shall be made next week, but online retailer Saholic already features the smartphone on its website- minus the price and launch date.
UPDATE (April 30)– The Micromax Canvas 3D A115 was launched today in India for Rs. 9,999/-.
