Hyundai Elite i20 India Launch Today – Features, Specifications, Price Listed. See LIVE Webcast.

South Korean automobile giant Hyundai’s most successful hatchback ‘i20’ finally gets an upgrade. ‘Hyundai Elite i20’ – a successor model to Hyundai i20 is all set to hit Indian showrooms today, featuring a brand new exterior and interior design the newbie is said to be based on company’s ‘storm-edge’ philosophy which was first deployed in Hyundai Santa Fe. With the help of few image leaks on the web, we can tell that the new model is going to be more aggressive one.

Hyundai Elite i20 will be launched in Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (0) and Asta variants. Asta (0) will be discontinued in this new offering. The basic model will be ‘Era’, which will feature Central locking, Power windows in front, Power steering, then comes Elite ‘Magna’ which features steering-mounted audio controls, power-windows in the rear, MP3 player with 2-Din radio, speakers in front and rear, and electrically-adjustable mirrors.  And the top end model ‘Asta’ will off course include all these features along with front passenger airbag, automatic headlights, rear wiper and washer and a secondary power socket. The ‘Sportz’ variant will feature some cosmetic and safety features including a rear-view camera, auto-door unlock with impact sensors, mirror-mounted turn indicators, ABS, driver side airbags, adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering and gear knob, and rear parking sensors. While the (0) models of Elite i20 will see the addition of chrome-highlighted door handles, smart key, and alloy wheels.

If we take a look at the engine, same as that in i20, the newer generation will also be available in both Petrol and Diesel engine variants. The i20 Elite will either fit an 83PS/115Nm 1.2 litre Kappa VTVT petrol mill engine or 90PS/220Nm 1.4-litre U2 CRDI engine. Both of them will sport 5-speed and 6-speed gearboxes respectively.

The price of Elite i20 will be revealed at the launching ceremony today and we hope to get some new features to be added which the leaks could have missed. One of the motto seemed behind this Elite offering is that Hyundai now wants to enter in premium hatchback category. With Volkswagen Polo, and Maruti Swift LXI already ruling the market, it will be exciting to see weather Elite i20 can make its hold.
