Danny Boyle’s ambitious sequel to the 1996 film Trainspotting has everyone hooked. T2: Trainspotting, as the upcoming movie is called, marks the return of the original cast ensemble – Ewan McGregor as Renton, Robert Carlyle as Francis Begbie, Jonny Lee Miller as Sick Boy and Ewen Bremner as Spud. Trainspotting, based on Irvine Welsh’s novel, bossed the box office raking in £4.7 million in the opening weekend itself.

While the original film had its protagonist trying to get off heroin, we see in the sequel the lead characters’ disdain for social media. The trailer warps Renton’s famous ‘choose life’ dialogue into a contemporary monologue, where after meeting his pals after a long gap of 20 years, he urges them to choose ‘Facebook’, ‘Instagram’ and the likes. The trailer features heroin usage and nudity in good measure.

The soundtrack is amazing, of course. Born Slippy is still playin’, and we also get an updated soundtrack from Wolf Alice.

T2 is scheduled for a January 27, 2017 release.
