Audi introduced a facelifted variant of the sports car R8 in India at a price bracket of INR 1.35 crore to INR 1.74 crore (ex-showroom price, Delhi). The year 2013 is quite an important one for the luxury car-maker, with Audi Q5 having released in the first month of the year with over 250 bookings, and the following months to witness several similar initiatives that shall strengthen Audi’s luxury-cum-sports lineage in India- like the launch of the new S6 in the second quarter.
The new R8 is available in three versions- the V8 Coupe, the V10 and the V10 Spyder- priced respectively at INR 1.34 crore, INR 1.57 crore and INR 1.73 crore. Yes, the users get to choose among two growling engines for their R8 beast- 430PS V8 and the 525PS V10, both of which now have a new 7-speed S-tronic box instead of the 6-speed single clutch R-tronic. The company claims that the new gearbox will better the acceleration by 0.3%. The new R8 even features an all-LED suited front and rear, and the interiors are fashioned with honeycomb covered Fine Nappa full-leather package with seat covers and door linen inserts.
