Micromax Plunges Into Home Entertainment- Launches LED TVs, Home Theatre Systems, Blu-Ray Players

Micromax has beefed up its portfolio with its plunge into the home-entertainment unit in India. With six LED TVs, two home theatre systems, a 3D Blu-ray player, and a Smart Stick Android Dongle, Micromax is just not settling in the waters of smartphone and tablet, with this launch it has made clear that it’s branching out- from your pocket to your room.

The LED TV ranges from 24″ to 55″, and price varies accordingly from INR 15,990 to INR 1,29,990. Every model is HD-compatible, and the 50″ and 55″ models offer 3D pleasures as well. The top-end 55″ model even extends Smart TV feature for internet browsing. Micromax’s manufacturing facility at Rudrapur can churn out over 2,000 LED TVs per day, and the same factory shall produce tablets and other accessories as well. The TVs shall be made available initially in 170 cities spanning in 9 states- Delhi, Haryana,  Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat. Claims suggest that the TVs shall have zero bright spot LEDs contributing to better viewing experience. Every model features a USB port and supports plug-and-play. The 3D models bring along with them four 3D glasses.

The 3D Blu-ray player supports every audio/video format, and is priced at INR 6,490. Also the company’s new home theatre systems HT037F1 and HT089F1 are priced at INR 5,990 and INR 6,990, respectively. With the Smart Stick Android dongle, users can transform their TV into Android TV. Running on a 1GHz processor on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Smart Stick is priced at INR 4,990. It even has an HDMI interface, 4GB memory and WiFi connectivity to boast off.

Micromax is already leading the tablet race in India, way ahead of Apple and Samsung- suggest reports, and with it’s entry into the home entertainment section, the heat is bound to go up. Whether the company sustains and rises in this area the same way it did with smartphones and tablets is what remains to be seen.
