National Business Awards has shortlisted a new company launched by two former Indian students-Melvin D’Souza and Alok Mathur in 2009- which sources wines from India and trades them across Britain. The awards, considered UK’s premier cross-country awards, shall be declared on the 13th of November. Located in Solihull in the west Midlands, their company ‘Soul Tree Wine’ features among the 10 fianalists for ‘Start-up Business of the Year Award’.
While doing their MBA at the University of Oxford, the lads had this idea of sourcing high quality wine from Nasik (Maharashtra, India) and trading it in UK. Washing off the Indian cuisine with Indian wine, there’s just no bigger satisfaction than this. Indian-origin entrepreneur Karan Bilimoria stands by this, after flattering response to his Indian Beer brand (Cobra Beer). Though Soul Tree Wine’s drink was supposed to complement Indian cuisine, they have managed to tune-up the same wine as per the European palate, without tampering with any of the wine’s characteristics.
