Acer’s First Quad Core Phone ‘Liquid E2’ Announced!

Taiwanese electronics giant ‘Acer’ introduced its new addition to the ‘Liquid’ series, Liquid E2. The launch also marks Acer’s elevation from dual-core to quad-core smartphones.

The E2 is an Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) based phone empowered by a 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 quad-core processor, a PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU and 1GB of Random Access Memory. It has 4GB of internal memory storage to offer as external memory can be expanded, courtesy a Micro SD card, up to 32 GB.

The E2 is fueled by a Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery that provides up to 450 hours of standby time and 9 hours of talk-time. It has a 4.5-inch In-plane switching (IPS) multi-touch capacitive display with 540×960 pixel resolution. It comes equipped with two cameras- an 8MP camera on the rear end and a 2MP camera on the front. Camera features include autofocus, geo-tagging and LED flash. The Primary camera has the ability to capture 1080p videos at 30 fps. Soundwise, Acer provides E2 with stereo speakers and DTS sound enhancement. The E2 is also packed with A-GPS, Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity and Compass sensors.

The Dual SIM (optional) ‘E2’ supports all versions of HSDPA. Other connectivity options include GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n, dual band, Wi-Fi hotspot), Bluetooth (v3.0 with A2DP, EDR) and a MicroUSB v2.0 port.

Acer’s E2 will be available in two colours viz. ‘Classic White’ and ‘Rock Black’. Expected to be seen in the markets of Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain and UK by May 2013 its release in India, as of yet, remains unconfirmed. It may be priced around EUR 230 (between Rs.16,000/- and Rs.17,000/-).
