Emerging shuttler K Srikanth scripted history by winning the Thailand Open Grand Prix. The 20-year old World No.61 tamed World No.8 and top seed Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand 21-16, 21-12 to clinch the crown.

Srikanth, seeded thirteen, had earlier defeated Thammasin Sitthikom of Thailand 21-14, 21-18 to book his berth in the finals. Coach Pullela Gopichand was happy with the result and also expressed satisfaction over the performance of Indian players of late.
