“Don’t underestimate the power of a common man” – there are two actors who have popularized this expression, one did it cheekily and the other in the most gritting way possible. The actors are Shah Rukh Khan and Naseeruddin Shah. Now, there is a third entrant in this group and he has chosen to go on the gritting path and add a tinge of suspense and thrill also. This time it is Irrfan Khan who reprises the role of the common man on a path of revenge against the system, the system which is sleeping because the simple tax paying citizen doesn’t care to change it.
The first trailer of ‘Madaari’ was released few moments ago and by the looks of it, it promises to be everything that “A Wednesday” was but on a much larger scale and also on a bigger budget. Irrfan Khan is a common man turned vigilante who kidnaps the son of the home minister and invites the blitzkrieg of Media and Police to open a Manhunt for him. He is clearly not a regular kidnapper rather an innocent man of the past who lost someone close and now all he wants is the person responsible for the loss in his life. The bigger question this movie poses is that – Is one person responsible for a tragedy that arises out of a corrupt system or is the whole system/government at fault?
Directed by Nishikant Kamaat, Madaari will hit theatres on 10th June, 2016. Madaari also stars Jimmy Shergill in a leading role.
