Anurag Kashyap’s latest ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’, a grandiose Bollywood offering which garnered a lot of appreciation at the 65th Cannes Film Festival, is one movie to watch out for. Gangs of Wasseypur, made in two parts, examines the coal mafia in Dhanbad, with a cast that boasts of over 300 characters, a majority of whom have dialogues to deliver. With actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the rest getting all gangsta on screen., one can only wonder what magic shall be weaved in the movie spanning over 5 hours.
Huma Qureshi, who marks her entry to Bollywood with this movie, states that this male-dominant script has some real strong woman characters playing their parts. The lyrics of Varun Grover and Piyush Mishra when clubbed with Sneha Khanwalkar’s music, compliments the rawness of the story wonderfully, with a good number of item songs running throughout the film. O Womaniya LIVE, Keh ke lunga and Hunter are my personal picks from the album lucky enough to be running on a loop. Jiya Tu is the music used in the movie trailer.
With its IMDB rating already kissing the 9+ mark, it just makes me sulk to not have watched this movie yet. Slated for an Indian release on June 22, this movie shall not be missed for anything in the world. Catch the trailer of this movie here:
