The Indian IT giant- Wipro Technologies – has joined the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) to develop smartphone-based in-vehicle connectivity solutions and to enrich your car driving experience by enabling you to access your smartphone apps while on road. Wipro is supporting CCC’s new technology, termed ‘MirrorLink’, which lets you connect your smartphone to the in-car infotainment system, and employs standard internet protocols (IP), Bluetooth and USB for the connectivity purposes. It replicates the smartphone’s UI on the car’s dashboard screen via VNC, and streams sound real-time, thanks to Bluetooth and Real Time Protocol (RTP).
The technology permits access of very selected apps through MirrorLink, based on whether they are driving-friendly or not. Obviously games, or any other function that demands even a fraction of your attention would find themselves in the negative of the selected apps.
