Ridley Scott,the man who has given us masterpieces like Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner and Black Hawk Down, is back after few misses in the last 5 years. His latest The Martian, which is based on a bestselling novel by Andy Weir, is a rescue mission of a NASA astronaut Mark Watney who is believed to have died in a severe storm on Mars but he survives and now has a bigger challenge facing him – he has food only for 31 days and the nearest help is 140 million miles and 4 years away. So to survive he decides to “science the shit of out this” and prepares a plan to survive for 4 years by doing something that nobody believed was possible – growing food on a dead red planet.
The trailer of The Martian is 3 minute long which is long by all standards but is intriguing and engrossing without revealing too many spoilers. It has an ensemble cast of Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mackenzie Davis, Sean Bean, Donald Glover and Naomi Scott.
