The epic story of Mahabharat has been told and retold in all possible known formats, and another retelling is about to be executed on the silver screen soon. Hail the trailer of the most expensive Indian animated film ever, where several Bollywood bigwigs have rendered their voice-overs to different characters. Mahabharat, Jayantilal Gada’s animated venture, stars Amitabh Bachchan as Bheeshma, Vidya Balan as Draupadi, Anil Kapoor as Karna, Ajay Devgn as Arjun, Jackie Shroff as Duryodhan, Anupam Kher as Shakuni mama, Manoj Bajpayee as Yudhisthir and Sunny Deol is seen as Bheema. The star cast may be appealing (a lot), but it seems that Indian animation still hasn’t upped its standards. A lot of work needs to go in that front if we’ve to rise above My Friend Ganesha, Jumbo, Ghatotkacha and the likes. Nonetheless, the attempt made here is appreciated.
Who’s done who’s voice-over is not yet known completely, but the complete list should be out anytime now. The characters have been suitably matched to the respective actor, but they’re made to look to old and worn-out.What do you think of the Mahabharat trailer?
