In the last 6 years Salman Khan has continuously targeted either Eid or Diwali with his larger than life escapist action movies; All of them have worked wonders for him and are also prime reason behind his exponential rise to superstardom. All those movies except ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ had one thing in common, a director who put everything on ‘Bhai’s’ shoulder and ‘Bhai’ delivered with great box office numbers.
This Diwali it’s going to be slightly different because Salman has gone to an era before he became a superstar, the era where he was the eternal chocolate boy – ‘Prem’ and not the ‘Bhai’ of the masses. ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, directed by Sooraj Barjatya who also happens to be the director who launched Salman Khan and also gave him his first Blockbuster ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ but the time is different now ; Barjatya has struggled to adapt with changing times and still uses archaic antics and portrays cultural values that India, especially its youth does not identify with . It is clear from the first trailer that ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ is not going to be any different than Barjatya’s previous endeavours. The success of this one too shall ride on ‘Bhai’s’ , oops, ‘Prems’ shoulders .
The movie also stars Sonam Kapoor,Neil Nitin Mukesh, Deepak Dobriyal and is slated to release during Diwali 2015.
