Auto giant TVS Motors, on Monday, unveiled their new scooter for this quarter the Jupiter 110cc in Chennai. TVS rolled out the two-wheeler with a price tag of Rs.44,200 (ex-showroom Delhi). According to pundits, TVS has fielded the scooter in a bid to strengthen its position in this segment of two-wheelers and catch up with competitors. It joins the club along with Scooty’s Pep and Streak models and Wego. Spyshots of the two-wheeler were already doing rounds in cyber space. Earlier TVS had launched their 125cc motorcycle Phoenix.
The All new Jupiter is powered by 110cc CVTi engine borrowed from Wego, another highly popular scooter from the stables TVS. It produces maximum power of 8 BHP (5.88 KW) at 7,500 rpm and peak torque of 8 Nm at 5500 rpm. According to TVS the scooter offers an efficiency of 62kmpl. It has the capacity to store 17 litres under seat. The bike also has 12 inch alloy wheels. It is equipped with TVS’s signature ‘Econometer’ that lets riders choose between ‘Power’ and ‘Eco’ modes. The fuel lid, however, has been positioned unusually. It has been placed right above the tail lamp.
TVS Jupiter will be made available in North India first followed by South India in November. Colour options include white, black, grey and red.
