Remember the beach paradise on a secret island from ‘The Beach’ (2000) starring Leonardo DiCaprio? After the crazy guy, Daffy (Robert Carlysle) convinces Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio) that the beach paradise did exist, Richard, looking for something exciting in life, sets out to find it with a French couple that he befriends in Bangkok. I still recall their expressions when they discover the beach for the first time. For those who never had a chance to see the movie here’s a picture of the beautiful beach the movie was shot at. Location-The Koh Phi Phi Island, Thailand.

So, longing for a getaway to a place like this huh? In that case you need not visit Thailand when our country has a few beaches that could offer an experience as Richard’s. Though you won’t have to go through what Richard faced in the movie (and I wish you don’t!) but you’d definitely be as elated as Richard was once you visit them and have what everybody seeks- ‘A Good Time’.
Radha Nagar, Havelock Island– This is a beautiful beach on the Havelock Island, Andaman, and was rated as the best in Asia by TIME in 2004. Known for its breathtaking sunsets the beach is a nature lover’s a delight and you’ll fall in love with its silky white sand and forests. You can also go snorkeling thanks to the superb coral reefs that the waters have to offer. The shacks along the road to the beach have snorkels and fins to offer. Buses and auto-rickshaws ply throughout the day.

Benaulim Beach, Goa– Just like previous two beaches in this series Benaulim is another beauty that has white sands, pristine waters, swaying palm trees and most importantly peace. It is hardly crowded except on Sundays when the beach bonanza is held. It takes around an hour and a half to reach Benaulim from Dabolim Airport.

The place is also popular for its resorts and spas that came up because of the water springs from the cliffs along the beach that are said to be of medicinal value. It is believed that the sea is holy and that it washes all away all of one’s sins. It is well connected by rail and road from Thiruvanathapuram.
