1897 – ‘Manyam Veerudu’ Alluri Sita Rama Raju, the Indian revolutionary who led the tribals against the British in ‘the Rampa Rebellion’ was born. The Movement was against the Madras Forest Act,1882 which prohibited tribals in forests from engaging in shifting cultivation.
1902 – Swami Vivekananda attained ‘Mahasamadhi’ at Belur Math near Kolkata.
1999 – Tiger Hill was recaptured by the Indian Army after an intense battle.Naib Subhedar Yogendra Singh Yadav was awarded the Param Veer Chakra for his role in this battle.
