Satyagraha: The Story Behind the Revolution- the book that details all the sweat and blood that’s gone behind making of Prakash Jha’s upcoming movie ‘Satyagraha’, was launched Tuesday evening by Team Satyagraha comprising Manoj Bajpayee, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Rao and director Prakash Jha. Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgan, each of whom essay important roles in the movie, were absent during the launch.
Prakash Jha commented on the launch-
We are happy that the book comes around the release of the film. It really chronicles the whole effort put in by everyone – cast, crew and members, telling readers about the months of hard work, tribulations and gruelling work we have put into it, and how. Satyagraha, the movie, aims to showcase the process of protests by the country’s middle-class citizens against injustice. Since social media is a big drive for the youth’s voice today, it also forms “an intrinsic part” of the movie, and hence the book. The book has designed in the style of social media. Social media forms a very intrinsic part of our movie as it has become new language of young people in India.
Verma, the writer of the book (who even helmed the print version of Rajneeti), adds that the book is not ‘serious literature’. It just gives you the details regarding all the behind-the-scenes chemistry regarding the film. Published by Om Books International, ‘Satyagraha: The Story Behind the Revolution’ shall hit the stands September 1. Price of the book is Rs 995/-.
The movie releases this Friday.
