Samsung has introduced an edition of the Galaxy Tab 3 exclusively for children. As kids get more tech-savvy today, with the ‘Galaxy Tab 3 Kids’ Samsung aims to make user experience for kids educational and interactive. The tablet also has features for parental control. The device will be made available in Korea first followed by China, Europe, US, Africa, South America and South East Asia. Figure on the price tag though is still unknown.
The Tablet is driven by a 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor along with 1GB of RAM. It offers 8GB of in-built storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. It runs on Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean). The tablet holds a 7-inch WSVGA display with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels (pixel density 170ppi). It’s a dual camera device with a 3-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. A 4,000 mAh Li-Ion battery powers the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids. Though an array of bright colours could have given the kids the flexibility to choose a tab in their favourite colour, but all they get is Yellow. The tab will come with multiple stand options and a Kids Case with a kid-friendly grip along with C-Pen.
The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids comes packed with lots of apps for children. With Application Manager, parents can select apps that their child can have access to. Another feature dedicated to time management allows parents to set time periods for which their child can use the device. When the time limit reached the screen gets locked and requires a password for access. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB among others.
