Korean mobile giant Samsung’s latest flagship Android smartphone, the Galaxy S4, shall have its big fat Indian launch on April 26. This being a part of Galaxy S4’s global launch, the device will grace the US and UK markets on the same day. Though the veil hasn’t been lifted off the price yet, but the general expectation is something over Rs. 40,000/-.
Specs-wise, the Galaxy S4 boasts a 2GB RAM, a 5″ screen with full HD AMOLED display and a pixel density of 441ppi and a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has a 2600 mAh battery, and eight sensors including the regular accelerometer, Digital compass, gyrometer etc. New sensors are the IR Gesture sensors (infrared LED) for remote control functions which allow user use his smartphone as a TV remote, and a temperature and humidity sensor. The device operates Android 4.2.2. ( Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. For connectivitythe S4 supports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, inbuilt IR blaster, 4G LTE, and 4G and 3G versions are the phone too are coming up. Rear camera is 13MP while the front camera shoots at a decent 2MP.
Of the two versions that Samsung has created of Galaxy S4 – one deriving power of Qualcomm S600 processor and other of Samsung’s 8-core Exynos processor- it’s anticipated that the octa-core Exynos model will be launched in India. The company aims to sell about 10 million S4 units within a month of launch. Once launched, Galaxy S4 will face serious competition from HTC One, a phone that has awed many with its superb design, brilliant camera performance and a handful unique features like Zoe. Priced at Rs 42,990/-, HTC One will be launched in Indian market by the end of this month.
