Indigenous smartphone maker Micromax, on Wednesday, stamped its presence in the premium devices segment by launching the ‘Dual 5’. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 24999. It is also Micromax’s bet to capture 10 percent the premium segment market share in the next 12 months. The company has opened Micromax Dual 5 registrations for purchase. The phone will be sold from April 10 onwards.
The Dual 5 is powered by a Qualcomm 652 Snapdragon processor and Adreno 510 GPU. This is coupled with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM. The smartphone packs 128GB of internal memory. The device runs on Android Marshmellow. It relies on a 3200mAh battery for the juice it needs. The battery can go from 0 to 100% in 45minutes it is claimed. It comes fitted with 5.5-inch screen with FHD AMOLED panel. This is protected by a layer of 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone sports a metal body.
The new Micromax smartphone is blessed with promising triple cameras. Two of these are on the rear side, each 13MP. They are complemented by dual tone flash. The two cameras promise increased colour vibrancy, depth and focus with noise free and crystal clear pictures in low-light conditions. The camera on the front side is a 13MP Sony supported by soft flash.
Micromax’s new offering also comes equipped with SecureVault technology that enables users to create a secret dual profile. This provides them with the convenience of storing private pictures, files and messages which can be unlocked by a unique fingerprint. The Dual 5 has an integrated IR blaster that allows users to manage remote-controlled devices in homes.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma said, “Our entry into the premium segment aims to further simplify the eco-system with a combination of hardware, software services, digital payments, customer service and more. We aim to increase our average selling price by 20 per cent in the year to come with new launches planned in over Rs 10,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 categories.”
