Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the most powerful AMG to have ever cruised the Indian roads today, i.e. November 24th. This will be the fifth AMG to have been launched in the country in 2015. Developed entirely in-house by the Mercedes AMG department, the supercar features an all-new 4-litre twin turbo that manages to generate 510 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque. An AMG speedshift seven speed dual clutch unit rotating the rear wheel manages all this wild power. What the AMG GT S lacks is the gull-wing doors as could be seen on the SLS, and even the engine has been downsized as per emission norms.
The chassis of the supercar is based on a aluminum made space frame with independent double-wishbone suspension all over. It even has adjustable damping as a standard feature. Long hood and the short seating cockpit are in line with all the GT car design templates. The cabin interiors get silver chrome, carbon fibre, black diamond, matte carbon fibre and matt silver fibreglass. It even features a freestanding central display and AMG Drive Unit controls with the latest command-touchpads to manoeuvre the car easily. For safety the car includes PRE-SAFE, reverse parking camera, adaptive headlamps, PARKTRONIC, blind-spot assistance and also traffic sign assistance.
There’s a longer bonnet with accentuated power domes and a pushed-back glasshouse. The car’s got 19″ wheels at the front and 20″ wheels at the rear. For added stopping power, the car has ceramic brakes as well. Other noteworthy features include dry sump lubrication, dynamically adjusting engine and transmission mounts that make it look extremely graceful on the track.
The AMG GT S reaches 0-100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds, and can attain a maximum speed of 310 kmph. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 2 – 2.5 Cr (ex-showroom Delhi).
