Auto giants Mahindra & Mahindra rolled a Special but limited edition of their popular SUV, Scorpio out of their stables on Monday. Only 500 units of this beast will be available in market. So, connoisseurs interested in owning it can contact M&M. Price, as of yet, is still under wraps. The SUV will take on the asphalt next year.

So what’s special about the ‘Special Edition’ Scorpio? To begin with, it comes wrapped in Luxurious European leather in Beige and Tan- the interiors, steering wheel and the gear knob and gear shift. There’s an Integrated DVD player with 9-inch screen attached to the roof. Dual front SRS airbags, high-gloss wood finish central bezel and alloy wheels with chrome finish. There’s also a badge on the back certifying that this one has ‘Special’ status.
The SUV is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk CRDe 4-stroke Turbocharged Intercooled diesel engine mated to a 5-speed gear box. It produces a maximum power of 120bhp at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque of 290Nm at 1800-2800 rpm. It takes 16.5 seconds to reach 100kmph from zero. This M&M SUV will come in pearl finish.
A Very similar Scorpio special edition was floated back in 2010. It could be seen as an attempt to survive in the market given that new crossover breeds have cropped up. The likes of Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster have caught fancy of customers. These are stylish, advanced and quite affordable.
