If you have been following the pre-release rumours of Apple products for years, then you will be familiar with the name Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities analyst, who has a very high rate of predicting accurate Apple features days before the actual press release. He is not always right but is more reliable than any other analyst on the planet and he released his predictions for 7th September’s Apple Event in San Francisco.
So here is what Ming thinks will be revealed in the highly awaited event.
Improved IPX7 water resistance: Apple watch already comes with this feature and now most probably the new iphones will be able to withstand light splashes and dips in water up to a certain depth for 30 minutes.
Dual-lens rear camera on the iPhone 7 Plus: Both lenses will be 12-megapixel, but one will be a wide-angle camera with larger pixel sizes, a 6P lens, and optical image stabilization, while the second will be a telephoto lens with smaller pixel sizes and a 5P lens. This will increase the cost of the phone by at least Rs 7000-8000. The iPhone 7 will be devoid of the dual cameras and it makes senses considering the limited real estate.
Upgraded rear camera flash: The new iPhones might come with four LEDs (two cool and two warm) and a new ambient light sensor for better image quality.
No headphone jack: This has been doing the rounds since last few months and before apple could be the trendsetter other companies such as Motorola and Samsung already ditched the earphone jack for a USB Type-C connector. As per Ming, Apple will be providing both Lightning EarPods and a Lightning to 3.5 mm jack adapter in the box. Removal of the headphone jack will allow for a slimmer body and will make room for some extra sensors.
Storage capacities of 32 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB: Apple might finally ditch the much hated 16 GB variant and add a brand new 256 GB model.
Five color options: Including the usual silver, gold and rose gold, along with a “dark black” that will replace the usual Space Gray. A new fifth color “Piano Black” might make its first appearance in the 7th September Apple Event.
3D Touch 2.0: An upgraded version of last years show stealer.
A10 processor: Clocked at 2.4 or 2.45GHz, a major jump over the A9’s 1.85GHz. It will be manufactured by TSMC exclusively this year.
Extra Ram for the Plus: 3 GB RAM for iPhone 7 Plus, most probably to support the extra sensor.
Now thats quite a lot to look forward to wednesday’s Apple event. Hopefully the wait time is not much .
