Taiwanese Smartphone giant HTC introduced a new addition to its successful ‘Desire’ range of smartphones. The Desire 500 was unveiled in Taiwan with a price tag of NT$ 11,900 (approx. Rs.24,000). Though not much is known about its global release it is speculated that the device will hit Indian markets by September or later. HTC’s latest offering is powered by 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 Quad-Core processor along with 1GB RAM. It offers 4GB of in-built memory and can be expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card. It runs on Android’s v4.2 (Jelly Bean) with HTC’s Sense. HTC Blinkfeed will help stay updated with fresh content from 1,400 content partners offering over 10,000 news feeds on any given day.
The Desire 500 holds a 4.3-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. This dual-SIM smartphone is also a dual camera device equipped with an 8-Megapixel camera on the rear side with LED flash and a 1.6-Megapixel camera on the front. Videos can be captured at 720p.
Connectivity options enlisted include 3G, DLNA, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth v4.0 (aptX enabled), A-GPS. The Desire 500 comes with Beats Audio for enhanced sounds and is fueled by a 1,800 mAh battery. The battery survives 17.5 hours of talk time and 401 hours of standby time.
