If Horrible Bosses was funny, its sequel is funnier, and overtly outrageous. The three friends – played by Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day – enacting Nick, Kurt and Dale respectively, have got great material and dialogues to keep you hooked and laugh-choked for a good part of the film.
After successfully breaking off from the clutches of employment, Nick, Kurt and Dale decide to be their own masters and hop on the entrepreneurial route with their invention – “Shower Buddy”, a device that dispenses shampoo with regular showers. After a terrible television appearance/marketing stint, they find their startup investors in Rex Hanson (Chris Pine) and his dad Fred Hanson (Christoph Waltz), who back out later planning to bankrupt them take over their business. With no recourse, they kidnap Rex and hold him up for ransom. The story runs zig-zag crazy hereon and you can’t help but enjoy this silly yet inviting piece of comedy.
While the three central characters keep the show running on their high energy, a special mention here to Jennifer Aniston’s sex-addicted dentist and Kevin Spacey’s behind-the-bar ex-corporate bully cameos are extremely engaging. Chris Pine is awesome in his role. The only thing that works against this film is that like every other franchise-sequel, they’ve reused the same jokes and tried to remould it into a more funnier version, which doesn’t work. But even still, the laughs are guaranteed.
IF you’re looking for weekend popcorn cruncher, Horrible Bosses 2 shall be a good investment.
Overall Rating : 3/5
