The Japanese car manufacturer, Honda, has now announced to re-enter the market with its entry level compact sedan Amaze- a compact cum stylish car, providing spacious interiors employing Honda’s ‘Man Maximum, Machine Minimum’ Concept. The car is currently under development and is slated to hit the roads in mid-2013.
The Honda Amaze will prove a substantial step for the company as it will be their first Diesel Car in India. Deriving power from a newly developed 1.5 litre version of Honda’s new i-DTEC diesel engine, the car will also be available with 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which is as of now used in Jazz and Brio. The sedan’s built quality oozes style and is easily comparable to its subsidiary hatchback model, Brio. With 3990mm of wheelbase, it’s nearly same as that in Maruti’s Swift DZire. Although exact figures have not been revealed yet, but most of them are predictable.
The Honda City has set up a benchmark for the growing base middle class customers as an aspirational Sedan. Now, if Amaze plays the right game, the company sure can win over another class of customers to, without having to compromise on the core values of quality, performance and reliability. The price is expected to be in the affordable zone of Rs 5.4 lakh- Rs 8 lakh as per the variant and preference of engine. If this baby hits the dirt, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and Tata Indigo eCS have got some stiff competition.
