Force Motors launched the Traveller-26, claimed to be world’s only monocoque panel van (*monocoque is a technology that lets the vehicle support loads on the external body itself instead of the conventional frame or truss). It’s a very novel feature which offers outstanding structural strength as both body and chasis works as a single unit. This LCV(Light Commercial Vehicle) derives power from a 129 PS, 295 Nm Common Rail Diesel Engine licensed by Germany’s Daimler AG. It boasts the highest power to weight ratio of 18 kw per tonne compared to 12 kw/tonne of other similar vehicles in this category.
For a first in India, the Traveller-26 shall employ dual-mass flywheel technology facilitating a smooth ride even at lower speeds. Priced at INR 10,87,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the vehicle’s equipped with a 5-speed synchromesh gearbox that guarantees smooth-transmission and lower friction, and at the same time consumes 15% less fuel compared to its subsidiary makes. Its body is rust proof- thanks to Cathodic Electro Deposition dip (C.E.D) painting process, it’s the only one in its class to be enjoying ventilated disk brakes on all the four wheels, and has the lowest center of gravity that makes it all the more stable. The van is best suited for school bus operators, hospitality industry, tours and travel agents, fleet owners, etc. From the name, one can get that this van comfortably seats 26 passengers.
