India’s largest dot com retailer Flipkart has gone live with its ebook section in its digital store Flyte. The store boasts over 100,000 downloadable paid titles (from as low as INR 30/-), and even houses 4000 ebooks totally free of cost. The company even launched a free Android App recently, that’s of prime requisite in order to download and read the purchased ebook. The same ebook from the digital library could be accessed and downloaded on maximum six devices. The books happen to be proprietary and could not be emailed/copied/sent to other devices. Though limited to just Android for now, the company stated that the Windows 8 version shall follow soon.
Addressing the tech-savvy user base, this progression promises instant-buy-instant-read option to the always on-the-go customers. Also, with the regular features of bookmarking, highlighting, taking notes etc. being included, the ebook store shall soon draw its targeted customers, while the attractive prices are just an added bonus.
