Italian auto giant Fiat, on Wednesday, unveiled the classic edition of Linea or ‘Linea Classic’ with a price label starting from Rs.5.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Two versions of this Fiat will be made available – Classic and Classic Plus. Linea Classic will be offered in two variants- a 1.4-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine. The 1.4-litre engine generates a power of 88bhp while 1.3-litre MultiJet produces 75bhp. The Classic Plus, however, will come only with a diesel engine option.
These being low-cost editions of the conventional Linea absence of a few features in the sedan are noticeable. The Linea classic will be devoid of alloy wheels, music system, steering mounted controls among others. Linea Classic Plus, however, is expected to retain the regular Linea characteristics along with climate control. The Fiat Linea once launched shall be competing against Maruti Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze, both leading in this particular segment, and Fiat claims that its new sedan has the longest length and the largest wheelbase in this price category.
Nagesh Basavanhalli, president and managing director, Fiat Chrysler India commented on the occasion- “The car will be an attractive offering for the customers at a very affordable price, price and we plan to reach customers in all the cities through our 79 exclusive dealership in the near future.”
Fiat Chrysler India, a collaborative venture between Fiat Group and Chrysler, has just recently announced the launch of nine models nation-wide in the coming three years.
