Arun Kumar Yadav is the lucky class 9 student from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, whose national-prize-winning doodle for Doodle 4 Google Contest 2012, titled “India- A Prism of Multiplicity” is gracing the Google India homepage today on November 14th, i.e., on Children’s Day. Arun’s creation was picked amongst 13 finalists shortlisted from more than 2 lakh entries that flooded from over a 1000 schools spread across 60 cities in India.
This year’s theme was “Unity In Diversity”, and the winning entry salutes the Indian diversity in its passion for sports, distinct folk culture, incredible handicrafts, the wide assortment of flora and fauna, farming and agricultural practices, and for its matchless spices and dishes. Such massive diversities symbolize India’s oneness, states the doodle’s description on the Doodle 4 Google India 2012 page.
Google 4 Doodle contest is held annually where Google invites students from class 1 to 10 to get involved in a creative process by stating out a theme to them, and once their creation is contributed, the best among the lot gets picked up as a winner and is displayed on the Google India homepage. Google 4 Doodle 2012 was the fourth year of this contest in India, and the enthusiasm ripples for next year’s contest could already be felt among the kids. Hope the colorful creative spark lives on.
